Ancient Breed
One of the oldest recognized dog breeds, the Chow Chow originated in northern China, where it served as a guard, hunting, and cart-pulling dog. Instantly recognizable for its lion-like mane and distinctive blue-black tongue, the breed carries an aloof, cat-like independence.
