Developed in southern Africa, where it was used by hunters to track and hold lions at bay until hunters arrived, the Rhodesian Ridgeback is a powerful, athletic breed named for the distinctive ridge of backward-growing hair along its spine. Loyal and protective, it forms a close bond with family.
