Developed by the Duke of Gordon in Scotland, the Gordon Setter is the largest and most solidly built of the setter breeds, known for its rich black-and-tan coat. Bold in the field and deeply loyal at home, it forms a close bond with one family.

The breed is named for Alexander Gordon, the 4th Duke of Gordon, who developed and refined the line at his Scottish estate in the late 18th century.
