Developed by fishermen on the island of Newfoundland to haul nets and rescue drowning sailors, the Newfoundland is a giant, water-loving breed with webbed feet and a naturally sweet temperament. It remains one of the most trusted breeds around children, earning the nickname "nature’s babysitter."
